The story
Piero Catalano founded San Pietro Restaurant Rooms in Scunthorpe after decades training alongside Giorgio Locatelli and growing up among the olive groves of his Sicilian hometown, Villalba. His approach to the kitchen remains rooted in those early family meals, treating every plate as a continuation of a multi-generational tradition. The menu shifts seasonally while preserving that core commitment to authentic Sicilian cuisine.
Diners encounter a blend of nostalgic recipes and modern techniques, driven by an insistence on artisanal ingredients and precise execution. The team cultivates its own herbs, edible flowers, and fruit trees within the garden space, harvesting them directly into the pass. Bottled house infusions and homemade breads replace mass-produced shortcuts, keeping the Italian kitchen grounded in tangible craftsmanship.
The dining floor occupies a Grade II listed windmill defined by its onion-shaped ogee and ball finial exterior. Inside, crisp white tablecloths meet gilded trim, while a separate lounge area features deep velvet seating arranged around low lighting. A sunlit courtyard named Giardino offers a quiet extension for warmer months, and fourteen individually styled suites sit just upstairs for overnight guests.
