The hotel sits on a clifftop in East Portlemouth near Salcombe, overlooking the rugged South Devon shoreline. The site traces back to the Rickham Coastguard Station established in 1847, before Richard Jordan converted the cottages into a family hotel in the early twentieth century. Today the building retains an easy-going atmosphere without dress codes, allowing guests to dine with clear views of the sea. The restaurant area accommodates both pet-friendly and non-pet-friendly preferences, ensuring the dining space remains accessible for all visitors. Calming colour palettes and warm décor inside complement the dramatic exterior, grounding the luxury in a sense of place rather than formality.

Guests can pair their meal with the fifth edition of Gara Rock Gin, developed in collaboration with the Devon Distillery using locally sourced botanicals that capture the aroma of the coast. Beyond the table, the grounds feature indoor and outdoor swimming pools with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the water, alongside a spa using vegan products made in nearby Totnes. The Wild Rock Spa menu includes reflexology and massages, offering a way to unwind after a dinner service that runs until 8pm.
