The story
The Nook On Five brings seasonal modern British cooking to a fifth-floor rooftop in Cheltenham. Ed and Tina opened the space on the Quadrangle building in November 2022, positioning five storeys above Imperial Square. Large windows frame Cleeve Hill and Leckhampton Hill while guests ascend from a ground-floor deli into the main dining room.
Multi-michelin-starred chef John Burton-Race leads the pass as executive head chef. He shapes a seasonal British cooking menu alongside English, French and Italian classics that shift with weekly market deliveries. Ingredients arrive from suppliers within walking distance, and the open kitchen places the brigade directly in view of every table. Cooks work closely together to plate fresh dishes without rushing.
The restaurant earned two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence, reflecting the care taken across an à la carte list and a seven-course tasting menu offered Friday and Saturday evenings. A separate cocktail bar serves short lists of spirits over the same elevated terrace. Afternoon tea and weekend roasts fill the midday hours, while private rooms host seated gatherings of up to thirty guests.
