The story
Brasserie on the Green in Reeth serves contemporary Yorkshire cuisine overlooking the village green at The Burgoyne. The kitchen holds an AA Rosette for culinary excellence alongside five AA Silver Stars, recognizing the team's commitment to sustainably sourced, seasonal produce. A dedicated kitchen garden supplements ingredients bought from local suppliers across North Yorkshire. Our Head Chef leads the brigade with a focus on locality and quality, ensuring every dish reflects the surrounding Swaledale landscape.
Guests frequently return for the generous Yorkshire cheeseboards, which feature regional varieties served with artisan accompaniments. The afternoon tea menu was developed in collaboration with Genevieve of Bettys Imperial Tea Room in Harrogate, bringing established heritage techniques to the Dales. Seasonal roasts appear on the celebrated Priceless Sunday Lunches, where diners pay what they feel the meal is worth. Cocktails such as the Burgoyne Bramble Spritz and Reeth Royale accompany the wine list curated with Firth Wines.
The dining room sits within a late Georgian country house built in 1783, originally known as Hill House. Extensive refurbishment since 2018 preserved original features while upgrading the space for modern comfort. A cosy fireplace in the lounge dates back to the property's earliest iterations. Large windows frame uninterrupted views across Reeth Green and the moors beyond. Dogs are welcome in the bar and garden areas, supporting a relaxed atmosphere throughout the evening service.
