The story
Ristorante La Fenice brings a traditional Italian kitchen to Riva del Garda, tracing its roots to an 1850 inn known as Osteria dei Tigra. Their descendants, including Annamaria Perini and Ermanno Leonesio, purchased the property in 1967 and continue to guide the same family-run operation today. The current owners maintain a straightforward approach to regional cooking, letting local ingredients dictate the daily menu rather than chasing contemporary Italian cooking fads.
Guests often visit specifically for the weekly Pesce di Mare evenings, which feature whole catches prepared simply to highlight their natural texture. The Schlemmer Atlas recognition highlights how the kitchen balances these fresh catches with reliable staples like Vitello, sea bass, and turbot within the elegant space established in 1989. A structured four-course tasting menu threads these elements together, offering a complete Italian dining experience without unnecessary complications.
The dining room occupies a refined setting that expanded significantly when the adjacent hotel was acquired in 1995. Subsequent renovations in 2004 widened the windows and brightened the walls, creating a calm backdrop for evening meals. Annamaria and Ermanno’s original vision for a welcoming family environment remains visible in the uncluttered tables and attentive service.
