The story
The Stuttgarter Stäffele has anchored itself in Stuttgart for more than half a century, establishing itself as a reliable destination for authentic Swabian cooking. Erika Wilhelmer purchased the former Hobby Club and restored its original purpose as a neighborhood wine tavern. She sustained the early years by hosting daytime gatherings and evening events until trade fair visitors recognized the value of honest local preparation. Today that commitment to verified regional produce shapes every plate they serve.
Seasonal menus highlight white asparagus prepared alongside pancake strips or new potatoes dressed in melted butter and Hollandaise sauce. Hearty classics like Gaisburger Marsch combine beef broth with local noodles and fresh vegetables for a comforting main course. Even simpler starters carry precise technique, such as onion soup presented inside a hollowed out onion or matjes fillet paired with crisp apples and cream. This disciplined approach to Swabian cuisine ensures consistent quality across all five dining rooms.
Five distinct spaces accommodate different group sizes while keeping the same rustic charm. Guests choose between the fifty seat main hall, a smaller private room, a dedicated wine cellar, a rare bottle cabinet, or an open air garden overlooking the street. The kitchen pairs these meals with a focused selection of Württemberg reds and whites. This steady dedication to place and product earned the venue a one and a half spoon rating from the Schlemmer Atlas.
