The story
Ristorante Fellini has served authentic Italian cuisine in Stuttgart since 1997, when founder Luigi Aracri converted the Fritz-Elsas-Str. 31 building into a dedicated dining destination. The project borrowed its name from filmmaker Federico Fellini, drawing direct inspiration from the neighboring Atelier Am Bollwerk cinema. Tim Erhardt now guides the kitchen, overseeing daily operations with a focus on precise technique. He ensures that every pasta dish and grilled sea bass reflects the same meticulous care applied during the original opening.
Designed by Günter Behnisch and Frei Otto, the structure features a meter-high glass wall that frames street activity for diners seated at the windows. Inside, the layout accommodates more than one hundred twenty guests without crowding the floor plan. Real linen tablecloths and heavy napkins replace disposable alternatives, establishing a measured pace for meals. The open sightlines allow guests to watch Stuttgart pass by while the Italian cooking unfolds behind the pass.
The kitchen rotates its offerings between a fixed highlight list and a weekly changing lunch menu. Guests commonly order rigatoni or grilled sea bass, staples of the Italian kitchen that rely on consistent heat control and straightforward seasoning. The team finishes each dinner service by offering a traditional espresso or a glass of grappa. This structured approach keeps the evening predictable for regulars while allowing newcomers to navigate the selection easily. Schlemmer Atlas recognized the steady quality with a 1.5 spoon rating, noting how the bright dining room complements the focused menu.
