The story
Malo brings a focused approach to regional cuisine to the heart of Stuttgart, operating as a family-run establishment founded by brothers Matthias and Lorenz. They designed the space to function as an urban retreat where guests can step away from city traffic without leaving the district. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded the venue one point five cooking spoons for its consistent approach to relaxed dining and thoughtful service.
Real vegetation fills every corner of the dining room, with each square meter releasing approximately five liters of moisture into the air daily. Guests sit on Riviera Maison pieces that the owners selected directly alongside the brand’s chief designer. An outdoor lounge sits beneath historic arcades, extending the green atmosphere into the street while maintaining a quiet backdrop for conversation.
The kitchen prepares vegetables entirely in-house and builds its menus around locally raised proteins. All meat arrives from Metzger Schneider in Freiberg am Neckar, a facility that maintains strict certification for humane animal husbandry. Vegan options appear regularly on the menu, and the wine list pairs closely with everyday German cooking. Service follows a natural progression from early morning coffee through midday meals and into the late afternoon golden hour. Champagne flows freely as guests transition from casual lunches to more formal dinners.
