The story
Little Italy brings everyday Italian cooking to Liststraße in Stuttgart. An open kitchen sits at the center of the room, where pots sizzle and staff move between the pass and the dining floor. The menu changes frequently to feature fresh daily recommendations alongside a fixed selection of pizzas, pasta, and vegetable dishes. This flexible approach keeps the kitchen responsive to what arrives that morning, allowing the team to serve fish soups or salmon lasagna without committing to a rigid yearly calendar. Three diners can also gather around a shared pasta table designed for conversation.
Claudia Reiss opened the space in 2013 after converting a modest storefront into a neighborhood gathering point. She oversees every service, stepping between courses to check on guests and adjust the pace of the evening. That hands-on management creates a familiar environment where conversations flow easily across adjacent tables. The staff treats the compact dining room like a private parlor rather than a commercial venue, which aligns perfectly with the Schlemmer Atlas recognition for its communicative layout and attentive Italian dining.
When warmer weather arrives, the focus shifts toward a small patio shaded by strings of colored lights. Diners settle into two top tables that encourage sharing, while the rest of the indoor floor accommodates couples and small groups comfortably. The outdoor area functions as an extension of the main dining room, keeping the same casual energy regardless of the season. Staying seated remains the preferred way to experience this Mediterranean kitchen in its most relaxed form.
