Olá Lisboa serves traditional Portuguese cuisine in Hamburg’s Portugiesenviertel district. The current operation occupies a building that previously housed a different restaurant where Carlos Sequeira visited as a child. The kitchen prioritizes straightforward techniques over modern experimentation, letting ingredients like steamed cod and slow-cooked stews define the menu.

Standout dishes

Starters arrive as Caldo Verde, a dense soup combining puréed cabbage, boiled potatoes, and sliced chouriço. Guests frequently order Pasteis de Bacalhau, which deliver a sharp crust around soft salted fish. Heavier plates feature the Francesinha sandwich, layered with roast beef, ham, and melted cheese beneath a tangy tomato glaze. The Cozido à Portuguesa offers a separate bowl filled with assorted meats and root vegetables.

Dining room and atmosphere

The interior accommodates approximately one hundred guests across ceramic-tiled floors and solid timber chairs. Outdoor seating extends the footprint by fifty places along Ditmar-Koel-Strasse. Daylight streams through large windows during weekday lunch service, while evening crowds gather around shared seafood towers and grilled picanha steak. The Schlemmer Atlas granted the venue a single spoon recognition in 2026 for maintaining consistent standards.

Wine selections lean toward crisp white bottles that complement briny shellfish and grilled sardines. Draft taps pour local beers alongside imports from Portugal. Sweet endings typically feature Pastel de Nata, a flaky pastry shell baked with a smooth custard center. Some visitors prefer Crema Catalana, a chilled vanilla cream capped with a brittle sugar crust.
