The story
Restaurant Glashüttener Hof stands in Glashütten along the B8 highway. Peter Dorn constructed the building in 1951, establishing a foundation for today’s Mediterranean cooking and regional recipes. Brigitte Götzen assumed management two decades later, passing the business to her son Götz while Thomas Werner directs the kitchen. This steady focus on guest comfort over formal prestige recently secured two ladles from the Schlemmer Atlas.
The dining room serves lunch and dinner menus that change according to market availability. Morning visitors receive a house soup and garden salad before their main course, while evening guests begin with a kitchen greeting and finish with baked pastries. Notable preparations include poached Atlantic cod in a light mustard sauce, reindeer ragout paired with chilled cranberries, and sautéed herb oyster mushrooms served over homemade bread dumplings. Plant-based diners find caramelized tomato ragouts and coconut-infused vegetable trilogies that draw on broader Mediterranean flavors.
Wooden paneling and polished service define the interior space that has welcomed travelers and locals for more than seventy years. The family maintains a straightforward hospitality model that values consistency over theatrical presentation. Guests order traditional cuts like beefsteak prepared with braised onions, roast veal finished with soft cheese and Williams pear, or filets of red snapper simply pan-fried with melted tomatoes. The rhythm of the restaurant moves at a measured pace, reflecting a quiet dedication to balanced Mediterranean and Central European traditions.
