The story
Marcel Spahn brings his expertise in classic German cuisine to Das Palais in Dresden, leading the kitchen since May 2025. He refreshes the menu every three months to match the seasons. In recognition of this consistent quality, Der Feinschmecker awarded the restaurant 2.5 stars for 2026. Diners might encounter an original Tafelspitz served alongside more adventurous plates like smoked venison heart.
Light pastel walls are mirrored throughout the dining room, reflecting the sparkle of crystal chandeliers above. A continuous leather bench wraps around tables dressed in crisp white linens, creating a structured yet comfortable layout. The atmosphere remains quiet enough for conversation while staff move through the space with practiced ease. A shaded terrace outside offers a separate vantage point over the Old Town.
The beverage program highlights regional partnerships, featuring an exclusive cuvée from Schloss Proschwitz that blends Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay. Another standout is a "Dreiburgunder" edition from Pfälzer winery Markus Pfaffmann, combining equal parts of three grape varieties. These selections complement the robust flavors of the central European menu, particularly when paired with dishes like the zander roulade resting on purple potato foam.
