The story
Gaffel-Haus Berlin brings authentic Kölsche cooking to Berlin-Mitte, standing out as the only traditional brewery venue east of the Rhine. Guests arrive between the Fernsehturm and the Reichstag to step away from the daily rush. The menu focuses on straightforward regional flavours prepared daily with selected ingredients. This dedication to honest Rheinische cuisine earned a 1 Kochlöffel from the Schlemmer Atlas for 2026.
The kitchen prepares familiar favourites like Rheinischer Sauerbraten alongside lighter options such as Zanderfilet. Every dish arrives with green beans, salt potatoes, or seasonal sides chosen by the cooks. Evening service shifts toward hearty Flammkuchen topped with bratwurst, sauerkraut, and leek. Sweet endings usually feature Apfelstrudel served warm.
Climate-controlled dining rooms hold roughly two hundred guests while preserving a relaxed brewery atmosphere. A separate lounge called the Ludwig-Erhard-Zimmer offers thirty-two seats for quieter gatherings. Outdoor seating opens seasonally along the quiet Dorotheenstraße street. Wooden tables and straightforward seating arrangements keep the focus on conversation and Kölsch served directly from the tap.
