A Historic Gatehouse Transformed

The timber-framed structure dates back to 1911 when it served as the main entrance to the Gut Meinolf hunting lodge. Baron Konrad von Donner commissioned the original estate, while later owners adapted the passage through the building into a public dining space. Rüdiger Heising purchased the property in 1999 and reimagined it as a café and hotel surrounded by an outdoor sculpture garden. Today the grounds feature a glass-walled winter garden that frames the surrounding pines and provides a sheltered dining area year-round.
