The story
Hart’s Kitchen in Nottingham builds its modern British cooking around the historic ramparts of Nottingham Castle. The restaurant earned two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence by prioritising seasonal produce sourced across the region. Founder Tim Hart established these standards, which restaurant manager Andreea Baltaretu now oversees alongside the front-of-house team. Their approach to British cooking relies on straightforward techniques that let local ingredients speak clearly.
Guests can order a full à la carte menu or join the popular Sunday lunch service built around local meat and harvest vegetables. The kitchen maintains a direct partnership with Hambleton Bakery, a venture founded by Tim Hart that supplies traditionally made bread and savouries without preservatives. This supply chain shapes their daily afternoon tea offerings, which feature homemade finger sandwiches and fruit scones topped with clotted cream. Patrons also select from an extensive cake selection prepared on site.
Tim Hart personally selects every bottle featured on the wine list, balancing revered vintages with discoveries from emerging regions. The cellar highlights crisp champagnes like René Beaudouin alongside structured reds such as the Château Fontarèche Vieilles Vignes from southern France. Guests can enjoy individual glasses, half bottles, or Coravin-preserved selections at the bar. Loose leaf teas from Jing Tea and locally roasted coffee from 200 Degrees provide non-alcoholic alternatives throughout the day.
