The story
Journeys Wine Bar and Restaurant brings modern European cooking to Eastbourne, recognised with an AA Rosette for culinary excellence. Owners Amy and Marina guide this independent venue, translating over a decade of international hospitality into simple, fresh menus that honour the seasons.
Chef-owner Amy began her career at sixteen, rising through respected kitchens including Artichoke and collaborations with Jason Atherton before specialising in pastry. Her wife Marina, a trained sommelier who studied hospitality in France, manages the front of house and curates the beverage programme. Their shared vision draws heavily on ten years working within Michelin-starred environments across the UK.
The kitchen rotates its offerings each trimester, offering a signature tasting menu available Tuesday through Saturday alongside a seasonal à la carte of small and large plates. Home baking remains central, with fresh sourdough produced daily to accompany large charcuterie boards featuring homemade pickles and cornichons. Distinctive preparations include a raclette pot served with twice-roasted potatoes, while the team prioritises locally sourced fish and regional ingredients wherever possible.
Marina has designed the entire wine list with a focus on sustainable and organic producers, ensuring every bottle reflects the team's commitment to responsible sourcing. Special events often highlight this dedication, such as recent partnerships with Rathfinny Estate to showcase exceptional English sparkling wines. Whether navigating the tasting menu or enjoying a charcuterie night, guests receive bespoke drink recommendations tailored to complement the chef's seasonal creations.
