The story
Daheim bei den drei Steubern delivers authentic Hessian cuisine to Frankfurt am Main after a complete revival in August 2024. The kitchen operates under hosts Pia and Frank Winkler alongside Jonas Kugland, who oversee the property following its closure in 2019. Extensive structural work restored the building while preserving its original character. The current team now manages daily operations as part of a larger local hospitality group.
The menu centers on elevated recipes that prioritize producer transparency and seasonal sourcing. Chefs prepare classic staples like bratwurst and schnitzel alongside an extensive selection of plant-based alternatives. Every plate reflects a commitment to freshly processed ingredients delivered directly to the kitchen. This straightforward approach to local culinary tradition earned the establishment two and a half ladles in the 2026 Schlemmer Atlas guide.
Guests gather around wooden tables inside the historic dining room or step into a quiet courtyard garden. The beverage program highlights a celebrated apple wine selection that draws regular patrons throughout the week. House served varieties pair seamlessly with the renowned cheese plates. Warm service continues until late evening during the busy weekend months.
