The story
At Meaw's Table in Tremelo, chef Vantanaporn Techanattirakun transforms authentic Thai cuisine into an intimate dining experience. Her foundation began in her family kitchen before she refined her technique under former star chef Wout Bru. This uncompromising approach to spice balance recently earned a Gault & Millau 13 rating. Fresh herbs and curry pastes arrive directly from Bangkok to maintain that original depth.
The à la carte menu balances familiar classics with precise execution. A wagyu carpaccio meets lime and coriander dressing, while slow-braised Belgian beef takes on black pepper and regional spirits. Steamed sea bass rests in a bright citrus sauce, and green or red curries rely on house-made pastes rather than coconut milk sweetness. The Thai kitchen here treats seafood and beef with equal respect, though groups of five or more should book the five-course discovery format.
The dining room seats just twelve guests, keeping the atmosphere quiet and conversational. Meaw imports twelve boutique Italian producers, which shapes a cellar holding over five hundred labels. Chianti Classico, Barolo, and biodynamic Gavi sit alongside crisp Alto Adige whites. House-made chocolate desserts complement the lighter whites, while heavier reds anchor the richer curries. Bottles are selected strictly for character and correct pricing, making the pairings straightforward yet deliberately chosen.
